Here are most of the ways to get z-coins in Last Fortress:
- Plunder from other players (up to 5,000 per week)
- Gather from mines on the map
- Get them for various resources in Trade Center
- Gather from Mints
- Get by Rallying Zombies
- Buy in Alliance Shop
- Get as Alliance Ranking rewards
- Earn in Daily Missions
- Get from Turret usages
- Get in Chests and Supply Packs
- Get as a Reward from Season Quest
- Get as Alliance Duel rewards
- Trade for special items in the Hunting Spree event
- Buy in packs
Let’s see which are the best ones and crunch some numbers:
Plundering
Plundering is pretty straightforward; you can get no more than 5,000 a week. The limit can be increased much later in the game after you level up your Research Lab to level 28 and unlock the “Attack & Defense (Master)” tree in the Power Up tab. There, you will be able to research Plunder and add up to 7,500 z-coins to your weekly plundering limit.
But, as a consistent practice, this is viable only if you are in a somewhat strong alliance that can farm weaker alliances from time to time.
Gathering
One territory with a city will usually spawn only one z-coin mine until it’s depleted. So the demand is high, and you will usually not be able to find an unoccupied one on demand. Plus, gathering speed buff does not affect z-coin mines. In short, it is not worth it to mine z-coins from mines.
Additionally, if you unlock the third skill of Grace, you could add +20% to your mints’ output.
Trading
I have gathered some statistics and found that you could get approximately 1,600 z-coins a day by trading eight times a day (requires 26 diamonds). But, if you also purchase everything you can for z-coins each time (which I recommend), you will spend around 1,200 z-coins a day in total.
Mints
Mints are the most obvious ones. You construct four of them, upgrade them to the maximum, put spare Solari (production) heroes to work there (for me it’s Emma and Brady), and use Rapid as many times as you can.
I have four Mints upgraded to level 25 with Emma and Brady working on two of them with upgraded gear (for VIT). It gives me an output of 274 z-coins per hour, which is 6,576 z-coins per day or 46,032 z-coins per week.
I use Rapid on all four mints six times a day, which gives an additional 4,320 z-coins a day. Plus, sleep time is 210 minutes, and I can use it three times a day, which is another 2,877 z-coins a day.
In total, mints produce around 96,000 z-coins a week.
You used to be able to get Lambert as a Solari hero, but it seems to be unavailable right now. With his first and third skills, you could boost your z-coin production a lot.
There is also a policy card “Coin Refining” that can increase your output by 20% from the start and add 5% if you upgrade it to the maximum.
Rallying Zombies
If you do five level five Mutants a day, that would yield you 1,000 z-coins a day. If you do level six ones, it’s going to be 1,500 a day, and level seven ones will give you 2,500 a day.
If it’s S0, and you can do Kayas from time to time, it’s an additional 150 a day. If you have Bifrons, it’s +400 a day. There is a one-week break between these events, so we will count that in.
Hence, by doing all Mutants whenever possible, you can potentially get 7,525 z-coins a week with level-fives and Kayas and 18,900 with level-sevens and Bifrons.
Alliance Shop
You can buy 500 z-coins for 30,000 points in Alliance Shop – don’t. It is not worth it. You are better off buying recruitment tickets, speed-ups, and gathering boosts.
Alliance Ranking
You can get z-coins as rewards in the Alliance Ranking competitions:
- 1st place gets 500
- 2nd place gets 300
- 3rd-5th places get 100
There are six competitions in total, so you can potentially get 3,000 z-coins a week if you place first all the time (which is quite hard).
Daily missions
After you complete the main missions, you will only get Daily Missions to earn sleep points and z-coins.
On average, you can get about 340 z-coins a day doing daily missions. You should not try doing every one of those, as some of the activities there are better when performed on a specific Duel day (like recruiting heroes or training troops).
Getting around 2,300 z-coins a week is possible here.
Turret Usages
By using the Turret, you can get z-coins, among other things. The number of coins depends on the level of your Entrance Hall.
It is possible to use the Turret around ten times a day. At level 26 Entrance Hall, you get 76 z-coins per usage, so that’s 760 per 10 uses. Doing 10 uses a day yields 5,320 z-coins a week, which is not bad.
Chests and Supply Packs
There is a chance of getting a different number of z-coins in Premium, Zombie, Supply, and Spoils chests.
The chance and number vary from chest to chest, so it is difficult to predict how much you will get per week, for instance. But if you do all the rallies, and people in your alliance buy things and do rallies too, it can be a decent number.
Season Quest
If you get to level 97 of Season Quest, you can get:
- 950 z-coins for the free version
- 1900 for the “ascended” paid version
In total, you can get 2850 z-coins, which is a meager number, considering the Quest usually takes you 37+ days to complete
Alliance Duel Rewards
You can get z-coins in every Alliance Duel reward chest:
- First three (20,000-320,000) – 800 z-coins
- Second batch (600,000-2mil) – 1,200 z-coins
- Last batch (2,4mil-4mil) – 1,700 z-coins
As you can see, by reaching 4mil chests every Duel day, you can get 22,200 z-coins a week. And if you research all three “Once Again” upgrades, you can double that number and get 44,400 z-coins a week.
Note: if you go to the 10-mil chest on Research Day, you will get +2,800 z-coins.
Kaya and Bifrons events
When you have these events active, you can exchange the items you get from Mutants for z-coins – don’t do it. You are better off getting skill medals and hero cards.
Buying
And, of course, you can use real money to buy z-coins in packs. There are packs available in Pack Shop (6,000 z-coins) and Supply Station (320 a day). The Supply Station one is not worth it. Better get speed-up supply or level-up supply.
On Research Duel Day, there are usually special packs with more z-coins.
Bottom line
Based on all written above, the three most effective ways of getting z-coins are:
- Maxing your Mints’ output
- Getting all the Alliance Duel rewards
- Rallying Mutant Zombies
Suppose your base level is 27. If you focus on getting as many z-coins as possible, you could get up to 175,000 z-coins a week.
