Bolton’s AC Shield UW (200% max HP shield at battle start) provides the durable front line Kobayakawa needs to survive long enough for DOT stacks to accumulate. As a Minuteman, Bolton contributes to faction bonuses and triggers Kitten’s Daydream Ash when his skills apply statuses.

Each Burning application by a Minuteman has a 40% chance to trigger Kitten’s Daydream Ash. With 15 burn stacks generating constant reapplications, Ash accumulates rapidly for Kobayakawa’s Focus skill detonation (+80% ATK DMG per Ash consumed).
Thunder Hammer gains 100 Focus per Poison detonated, +3% ATK (stacks 12) per Burning detonated, and heals lowest-HP teammate per Bleeding detonated. Kobayakawa’s burns feed Ivanov’s detonation chain — each Flaming Feast applies burns to all enemies, giving Ivanov multiple statuses to detonate with Hammer of Judgement for both damage and ATK scaling.
Blaze Shark fires extra bullets whenever Minutemen allies inflict status effects (up to 5 bullets/round). Kobayakawa’s Kitten’s Daydream Ash procs count as status applications, triggering additional Blaze Shark bullets. - Casino (Hard Counter) — Casino’s Double Down drains 200 Focus from all enemies, preventing Kobayakawa from casting Flaming Feast. Without her Focus skill, she cannot apply mass burns, trigger Death Descend, or accumulate Ash for detonation — her entire kit relies on skill activation.
- Kelly (Soft Counter) — Kelly’s Hunting targets the lowest-AGI enemy. Kobayakawa’s Heavy Armor reduces Initiative by 10%, making her even more vulnerable to AGI-based targeting. Spine Whip UW gives Kelly a chance for double actions, potentially killing Kobayakawa before Flaming Feast fires.
- Blanche (Soft Counter) — Blanche’s Eradicate deals 260% + 100% WPN DMG to a random backrow enemy. Kobayakawa in pos 3-5 is always in Blanche’s targeting range. Her low VIT (299) means a single crit from Eradicate can eliminate her before DOT chains establish.
- Front-row tank lineups (Hard Counter) — Flaming Feast deals 3x (4x with Puppet Bunny) damage to front-row heroes. Lineups that invest heavily in dual-tank formations (pos 1-2) take devastating punishment — their tanks melt while backrow carries lose their protection.
- Low DMG Mitigation lineups (Soft Counter) — Death Descend makes targets take +100% sustained DMG for 2 rounds. Lineups without strong DMG mitigation or cleanse have no way to remove this debuff, effectively doubling all incoming damage from the entire Minutemen team.
Rating
A Tier. Strong AOE damage dealer with excellent DOT synergy within Minutemen compositions. Kobayakawa shines in burn chain lineups where her Ash mechanic creates multiplicative damage with Benson, Ivanov, and Margaret. She lacks the standalone carry power of S-tier heroes like Heytex but serves as a critical enabler in status-heavy teams. Her 4x front-row damage with Puppet Bunny makes her one of the best front-row punishers in the game.
