Wildlings Rare Tank Utility

Best positions 1 > 2 > 3

1: Primary tank slot. Irma needs to absorb damage to fill her focus bar for Axe Cut. Pos 1 fills focus fastest and puts her +10% WPN DMG Mitigation to maximum use.

2: Secondary tank slot. Slightly slower focus fill but still absorbs enough damage to function. Preferred when a stronger tank or support occupies pos 1.

3: Off-tank placement. Irma’s 894 AGI provides some evasion, but pos 3 wastes her tank kit and significantly delays her focus skill. Only use as a last resort.

Wiki Fandom

Irma is a Rare Wildlings tank who deals solid single-target WPN DMG via Axe Cut and passively reduces incoming WPN DMG by 10% through Tough Resistance. Her Swift Charge upgrade adds +80% WPN DMG on skill, giving her respectable burst for a tank. She is a functional budget frontliner for Wildlings lineups in S0-S2 but lacks any scaling for later content.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Tough Resistance provides +10% WPN DMG Mitigation passively, reducing all physical damage taken.
  • Axe Cut with Swift Charge deals 280% + 80% WPN DMG — high burst for a Rare tank.
  • Brute Force grants +20% Troop Load, useful for gathering and march logistics.
  • High AGI (894) provides natural evasion and targeting resistance.
  • Wildlings faction pairs with Harman for early double-tank Wildlings frontlines.
Cons
  • Only 447 VIT — low HP pool for a tank, making her vulnerable to sustained pressure.
  • No self-heal, shield, or crowd control; purely absorbs damage with no active defense.
  • Tough Resistance only mitigates WPN DMG — TAC-based enemies bypass it entirely.
  • Axe Cut is single-target with no debuff; no utility beyond raw damage and tanking.
  • Completely outclassed by Epic Wildlings tanks in S3+.

Gear

Best gear at a glance

Castle is the default choice for Irma because the block proc is her best defense against burst damage. Tough Wall is stronger in fights lasting 5+ rounds where DEF stacks accumulate. Heal is optimal when a shield or healing support is present to amplify.

+24% DEF base and +18% DEF per hit stacking 5 times. Strong for prolonged fights where Irma builds stacks. Compounds with her +10% WPN DMG Mitigation for high physical defense.

Tough Wall

Helmet Body

+10% HP and +45% Healing/Shield effect. Amplifies any healing Irma receives from supports or APC healing parts. Best when paired with Harman’s shields in the lineup.

#2

Weapon Helmet Body Jewelry

+8% DMG Mitigation and 40% chance to block 60% of incoming damage. Castle’s block proc directly compensates for Irma’s low VIT by preventing large burst hits from killing her.

Substats by slot

Every substat should prioritize survivability. Irma’s damage output is secondary to her tanking role. Stack HP%, VIT, DEF, and DMG Mitigation across all slots. Do not invest in STR, DMG Bonus, or Crit Rate — Irma needs to survive, not deal damage.

Weapon

HP%, VIT, DMG Mitigation

HP% and VIT directly increase Irma’s survivability. DMG Mitigation stacks with her Tough Resistance passive and Castle set for layered physical defense.

Helmet

HP%, VIT, AGI

HP% and VIT for raw durability. AGI leverages Irma’s naturally high 894 AGI to further reduce targeting and improve evasion against AGI-based skills.

Body

DEF, VIT, DMG Mitigation

Pure defense substats. Body is Irma’s primary DEF source, and stacking it compounds with Tough Wall’s +18% DEF per hit stacks for massive physical damage reduction.

Jewelry

HP%, VIT, Skill Effect Enhancement

HP% and VIT for survivability. Skill Effect Enhancement boosts Axe Cut damage and the Swift Charge bonus, though Irma’s primary value is tanking, not damage.

Irma — pos 1 — Tank

Primary tank. Absorbs front-line damage with Tough Resistance providing +10% WPN DMG Mitigation. Castle block chance compensates for her 447 VIT. Axe Cut with Swift Charge provides burst damage to a single enemy.

Harman — pos 2 — Tank / Support

Secondary tank and shield provider. Staunch Will shields all allies on focus skill cast. Essential survivability layer for the fragile Rare back-row heroes.

Marlen — pos 3 — AOE Damage

Primary AOE carry. Provides the broadest damage spread in the lineup. First back-row slot for fastest focus fill among DPS heroes.

Duncan — pos 4 — AOE Damage

Secondary AOE carry. Two Birds with One Stone hits 2 random enemies with TAC DMG, diversifying damage angles alongside Marlen’s AOE.

Jessie — pos 5 — Single Damage

Single-target finisher. Eliminates weakened enemies after Marlen and Duncan soften them. Fifth Wildlings hero for the full +20% faction bonus.

A budget Wildlings lineup for early seasons. Irma tanks the front while Harman provides shields from pos 2. Marlen, Duncan, and Jessie fill the back row with AOE and single-target damage. The 5-hero Wildlings faction bonus provides +20% ATK and HP, which is critical for compensating the individual weakness of Rare heroes.

Synergies

Shield Layering

Harman’s Staunch Will shields all allies while Irma tanks the front line. The shields absorb burst damage that would otherwise kill Irma through her low HP pool. Both are Wildlings, contributing to the faction bonus and enabling a double-tank frontline.

Physical Damage Wall

Irma’s +10% WPN DMG Mitigation reduces physical damage taken by the front line, buying time for Marlen to fire AOE skills from the back row. The longer Irma survives, the more AOE damage Marlen accumulates across the fight.

Faction Anchor

Jessie as the fifth Wildlings hero secures the full +20% ATK/HP faction bonus. This 20% HP increase is particularly valuable for Irma, effectively raising her low VIT by a significant percentage.

Counters

Countered by
  • Kelly (Hard Counter) — Kelly’s backrow-targeting skills bypass Irma entirely, killing her carries while Irma tanks uselessly. Irma has no way to protect backrow allies from targeted sniper attacks.
  • Galande (Soft Counter) — Galande’s high single-target burst can overwhelm Irma’s low HP pool through Castle block RNG. If the block fails on a critical hit, Irma dies early and the lineup collapses.
Irma counters
  • WPN-heavy lineups (Situational Counter) — Irma’s +10% WPN DMG Mitigation combined with Castle and Tough Wall makes her surprisingly durable against pure physical damage lineups. STR-based enemies deal significantly reduced damage to her, extending fights where her team can accumulate AOE damage from the back row.

Rating

C Tier. Irma is a basic Rare tank with no distinguishing features beyond her WPN DMG Mitigation passive. Axe Cut deals decent damage for a tank but hits only one target with no debuff. She has no self-heal, no shield, and no crowd control. She fills the Wildlings tank slot adequately in S0-S2 but is immediately replaceable by any Epic tank.

Trivia

  • Irma was the most effective hero for gathering load with a load-increase skill, since David is too hard to acquire, until Loong was introduced in version 1.364.001 as a new Wildlings hero. Her "Brute Force" skill is also quite easy to upgrade as it only requires rare-rarity medals, but ascending it too far is not recommended, similar to Coleman’s upgrade path.
  • Irma’s appearance somewhat resembles Zarya from the Overwatch series.
