Best positions 3 > 4 > 5

3: Position 3 lets Marlen act early in the back row to apply poison and target enemy back-row heroes before they can use their skills. Sand exclusive gear’s full back-row targeting is maximised by acting before enemies can heal or shield.

4: Position 4 works as an alternative back-row slot. Marlen’s Rapid Arrows target back-row enemies regardless of her own position, so the DPS output is identical. Best when position 3 is occupied by a higher-priority hero like Eva.

5: Fallback position. Marlen’s mechanics function identically from position 5, but this slot is typically reserved for supports. Viable when the lineup has no dedicated support.

Wiki Fandom

Marlen is the Wildlings’ back-row specialist whose Rapid Arrows target 2 random back-row enemies for 200% TAC DMG, upgraded to ALL back-row enemies with her Sand exclusive gear. Her Toxic Arrowhead applies poison dealing 30% TAC DMG per round for 2 rounds on every normal attack and skill, creating persistent damage pressure. With her Ruby Dragon UW converting heals and shields received into Dragon’s Fury stacks that each grant +20% DMG on her next action, Marlen turns her team’s defensive play into offensive bursts.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Sand exclusive gear upgrades Rapid Arrows to target ALL back-row enemies instead of just 2 random targets, providing reliable back-row sweeping.
  • Toxic Arrowhead applies poison (30% TAC DMG per round, 2 rounds) on every normal attack and skill, creating persistent DOT pressure across multiple enemies.
  • Ruby Dragon UW converts heals and shields received into Dragon’s Fury stacks (3 max, each +20% DMG), turning defensive play into up to +60% DMG bursts.
  • Wildlings Leader grants +5% DMG Bonus and +3% HP to all Wildlings in the lineup, providing passive team-wide support.
  • Sand 2-piece restores 21% of damage dealt as HP on normal attacks and Focus skills, giving Marlen built-in sustain without requiring a healer.
Cons
  • Rapid Arrows exclusively targets back-row enemies — front-row-heavy lineups with only 2 back- row heroes receive significantly less total damage.
  • High DMG Mitigation reduces Marlen’s many small hits more severely than single large hits, as each arrow hit is individually mitigated.
  • No burst damage — Marlen’s damage is spread across multiple hits and poison ticks, making her ineffective against heroes with death immunity or strong per-hit shields.
  • Low VIT (299) makes her fragile in the back row, relying on tanks and shields for survival.

Sand is mandatory for the full back-row targeting upgrade and built-in sustain. Resolute is the standard second set for survival insurance. In Buri + Ada lineups where Marlen is heavily protected, swap Resolute for Hurricane or Apocalypse for maximum damage output.

Marlen’s exclusive set. 2-piece restores 21% of damage dealt as HP on normal attacks and Focus skills. 4-piece boosts Focus skill DMG by +10% and upgrades Rapid Arrows to target ALL back-row enemies. Mandatory best-in-slot.

Substats by slot

Marlen’s substats follow the standard INT DPS pattern — offensive stats on weapon and jewelry, defensive stats on helmet and body. INT is the primary scaling stat for both direct arrow damage and poison ticks.

Weapon

DMG Bonus, INT, Crit Rate

DMG Bonus amplifies all of Marlen’s arrow hits and poison damage. INT scales TAC ATK for both Rapid Arrows and Toxic Arrowhead’s poison. Crit Rate benefits from the many individual arrow hits — more hits mean more chances to crit.

Helmet

HP%, AGI, VIT

HP% and VIT compensate for Marlen’s lowest-in-class base VIT (299). AGI provides defensive targeting resistance.

Body

DEF, VIT, DMG Mitigation

Pure defense to keep Marlen alive in the back row. Higher DEF reduces the damage from AOE attacks and random targeting skills.

Jewelry

DMG Bonus, INT, Skill Effect Enhancement

DMG Bonus and INT maximise Rapid Arrows’ damage. Skill Effect Enhancement amplifies the Focus skill’s damage boost from Sand 4-piece (+10%).

Corvine Curse reduces a random enemy’s all stats by 8% each round, stacking with Elaine’s debuffs. Seed of Life provides burst AOE damage and healing. Soul Split shares Eva’s INT with Marlen or Elaine.

Jessie — pos 5 — Support

Dedicated healer. Heal set boosts all healing output by 45%. Self-Healing provides passive HP restoration each round. Guardian INT’s +22% healing from Harman amplifies all effects. Jessie’s heals also trigger Ruby Dragon’s Dragon’s Fury on Marlen.

A foundational Wildlings lineup where Harman tanks and shields while Marlen targets the enemy back row with poisoned Rapid Arrows. Elaine provides stat reduction debuffs that make Marlen’s damage relatively stronger. Eva adds Corvine Curse and Seed of Life for additional debuffs and burst. Jessie heals the lineup. Four Wildlings heroes provide a +15% faction bonus. This lineup carries players through early seasons until Buri arrives.

Buri — pos 1 — Tank

Primary tank. Guardian STR casts Link of Life at battle start. Damage distribution protects Marlen from burst targeting. Frosty Coffin’s +15% crit rate and +30% crit DMG amplify Marlen’s many individual arrow hits — each arrow crits independently.

Harman — pos 2 — Support / Secondary Tank

Shield generator. Staunch Will shields all allies, and each shield event triggers Ruby Dragon’s Dragon’s Fury on Marlen for +20% DMG per stack. Super Core accelerates focus bars from pos 2. Alpha Bless provides team Crit Immunity and round 1 shields.

Marlen — pos 3 — AOE Damage

Primary DPS. Sand makes Rapid Arrows hit ALL back-row enemies. Frosty Coffin’s crit buffs from Buri apply to every arrow hit independently. Harman’s shields trigger Ruby Dragon for up to +60% DMG bursts. Wildlings Leader grants +5% DMG Bonus and +3% HP to all Wildlings.

Elaine — pos 4 — AOE Damage / Debuffer

Cursed Scythe reduces all enemy stats by 12% per cast. Skeleton debuffs at battle start. Enemy stat reduction makes Marlen’s hits relatively more effective as enemy DEF drops.

Eva — pos 5 — AOE Damage / Support

Corvine Curse reduces a random enemy’s all stats by 8% each round. Seed of Life provides burst AOE damage and healing. Soul Split shares Eva’s INT with Marlen through stat sharing. Spirit targets an additional enemy with Corvine Curse.

A full Wildlings lineup where Buri’s damage distribution protects Marlen’s fragile back-row position while Frosty Coffin’s crit buffs amplify her many individual arrow hits. Harman provides shields that trigger Ruby Dragon’s Dragon’s Fury for +20% DMG per stack. Elaine and Eva layer stat debuffs that progressively weaken enemies, making Marlen’s damage more effective. All 5 heroes are Wildlings for the maximum +20% ATK/HP faction bonus.

Harman — pos 1 — Tank / Support

Primary tank. Castle provides front-line survivability. Guardian INT’s +22% healing amplifies Kelly’s heals. Staunch Will shields all allies and triggers Ruby Dragon’s Dragon’s Fury on Marlen.

Marlen — pos 2 — AOE Damage

Primary back-row sweeper. Sand makes Rapid Arrows hit ALL back-row enemies. Toxic Arrowhead applies poison to soften targets for Galande’s single-target burst. Wildlings Leader grants +5% DMG Bonus and +3% HP to Harman.

Laurel — pos 3 — AOE Damage

AOE damage dealer who adds additional pressure across the enemy lineup. Hurricane provides +25% TAC DMG for maximum damage output.

Galande — pos 4 — Single Damage / Carry

Single-target burst carry who finishes back-row enemies softened by Marlen’s poison and Rapid Arrows. Apocalypse and Hurricane provide raw offensive stats for maximum kill potential.

Kelly — pos 5 — Support

Healer who keeps the lineup alive through sustained fights. Heal set boosts all healing output by 45%. Guardian INT’s +22% healing from Harman amplifies Kelly’s healing effects.

An early-game lineup focused on eliminating enemy back-row heroes through targeted attacks. Marlen’s Rapid Arrows hit all back-row enemies via Sand while Galande provides single-target burst to finish weakened targets. Harman tanks and shields the front line while Laurel and Kelly add additional single-target back-row pressure. This composition is effective against lineups that stack carries in positions 3-5 but struggles against front-row-heavy compositions.

Synergies

Shields Feed Dragon’s Fury

Every shield Marlen receives from Harman’s Staunch Will grants 1 Dragon’s Fury stack (3 max), each adding +20% DMG on her next action. Harman’s frequent shield casts ensure Marlen consistently reaches 2-3 stacks for +40-60% DMG bursts. Wildlings Leader also grants Harman +5% DMG Bonus and +3% HP.

Wildlings Faction Pair

Both are Wildlings Riflemen with INT scaling. Elaine’s -12% STR/INT/AGI debuffs reduce enemy defensive stats, making Marlen’s arrow hits more effective. Cursed Scythe hits all enemies while Rapid Arrows targets back-row — together they pressure the entire enemy lineup.

Wildlings DPS Trio

Eva’s Corvine Curse reduces enemy stats each round while Seed of Life provides burst AOE damage and healing. Soul Split can share Eva’s INT with Marlen if Marlen has the highest INT. Both are Wildlings, and Eva’s debuffs weaken enemies that Marlen’s poison then chips down.

Wildlings Healer

Jessie’s healing keeps Marlen alive through sustained fights while also triggering Ruby Dragon’s Dragon’s Fury stacks. Each heal Marlen receives grants +20% DMG on her next action. Both are Wildlings for faction bonus, and Jessie’s Wildlings affinity provides additional stat bonuses.

Damage Distribution

Buri’s Link of Life distributes 50% of incoming damage across the team, preventing Marlen from being burst down despite her low VIT (299). Frosty Coffin’s +15% crit rate and +30% crit DMG apply to each of Marlen’s many individual arrow hits independently, dramatically amplifying her total damage output.

Cross-UW synergies

Interactions with other heroes’ ultimate weapons.

Harman
Chimera Anchor MASTER

Chimera Anchor deals 50% TAC ATK to a random enemy each time a shield event occurs (up to 5x per round). Marlen’s Ruby Dragon converts those same shield events into Dragon’s Fury stacks for +20% DMG each. The two UWs turn every single shield cast into both chip damage and a damage multiplier.

Eva
Nirvana MASTER

Nirvana reduces the highest enemy stats by 15% on alternating rounds. Combined with Marlen’s persistent poison damage (30% TAC DMG per round), weakened enemies take relatively more effective damage from poison ticks as their defensive stats drop.

Buri
Frosty Coffin MASTER

Frosty Coffin grants +15% crit rate and +30% crit DMG to all linked allies. Marlen fires many individual arrows per round through Rapid Arrows and normal attacks — each arrow benefits independently from the crit buffs, turning a high-hit-count style into a critical strike barrage.

Counters

Countered by
  • Front-Row Heavy Lineups (Hard Counter) — Rapid Arrows exclusively targets back-row enemies (positions 3-5). Lineups that stack 3 heroes in positions 1-2 with only 2 in the back row receive significantly less total damage from Marlen. If the enemy has no vulnerable back-row heroes, Marlen’s value drops sharply.
  • High DMG Mitigation (Soft Counter) — Marlen’s damage is spread across many individual arrow hits. Each hit is independently reduced by DMG Mitigation, so high-mitigation targets absorb a larger percentage of Marlen’s total output compared to heroes who deal fewer, larger hits.
Marlen counters
  • Back-Row DPS Lineups (Hard Counter) — Lineups that stack carries and supports in positions 3-5 are directly vulnerable to Sand- enhanced Rapid Arrows hitting ALL back-row enemies. Combined with Toxic Arrowhead’s poison, Marlen pressures every damage dealer and healer simultaneously.
  • Poison-Vulnerable Lineups (Soft Counter) — Lineups without cleanse or heal-over-time to counter poison are slowly ground down by Toxic Arrowhead’s persistent 30% TAC DMG per round across multiple enemies.

Rating

A Tier. Marlen is a solid Wildlings DPS hero available from Season 0 with long-term relevance. Sand exclusive gear upgrading Rapid Arrows to hit ALL back-row enemies transforms her from a random target sniper into a reliable back-row sweeper. Wildlings Leader’s team buff (+5% DMG, +3% HP) adds support value. She is rated A because her damage is restricted to back-row targets — front- row-heavy lineups reduce her effective damage by half. She also lacks the burst potential of dedicated carries like Victoria or Amum.
